WHY “THE BEST CLASS”?
The name came from a second grader.
One afternoon in 2006, a student looked around my second-grade classroom and said, “This is the best class.”
That became the challenge behind everything here: How do we create classrooms students genuinely want to be part of?
Today, I approach that question as a former classroom teacher and reading specialist, literacy researcher, professor, author, and Editor-in-Chief of Reading Research Quarterly—combining evidence with creativity and practical classroom experience.
